Youth Football (for those turning 13 this year)
The Youth Football programme is the final progression from Mini Football to full 11-a-side matches for those turning 13 within the calendar year. New players are still welcome at any age.
The fixtures are each Saturday morning during terms 2 and 3 at various venues across the region (mainly in Palmerston North). The sessions take between 60 and 90 minutes.
Games are scheduled at 8.45am or 10.30am and can vary week to week.
Teams are made up of a squad. There may be grading for teams in this age group.
The matches are played on almost full sized pitches with full Football Association rules applied. Games are 35 minutes each half.
The Youth Football experience is the final progression to playing the senior form of the game.
At the end of the season players will be able to attend the Football Talent Centre (FTC) trials for the Manawatu. We will do all we can to encourage and help players with the desire and skill level to prepare for these trials.
Who runs the team?
Teams playing in the 13th grade will require a volunteer to coach/manage the team. They will be supported in their own coach development pathway and opportunities will be available to learn through courses offered by Central Football along the way. Some football experience would be desirable in someone taking on the role of team coach.
