2025 will see the launch of the Central Development Leagues for U13 and U15 boys as well as U13 and U14 girls. These are going to be the replacement for the Central Federation Talent Centre programme which has previously seen the most talented local players representing the region after a trial process.
Our Palmerston North United CDL squads will be selected from players registered for the Academy during term 1. Players who do not make those squads will still be able to take part in the Academy training programme throughout the year and also be involved with various game days and tournaments through the season. Players not involved in the CDL squads will play their team/club football at the local schools/clubs they are affiliated with as usual.
CDL players will still be able to play for their school representative teams.
More information about the CDL leagues, prepared by Central Football is available by clicking the picture below.

There is now an excellent place for young footballers to play with like-minded players in the Manawatu.
The Palmerston North United Academy (previously Red Sox-Massey Academy) started in term 1 2022 for super-keen junior footballers, with Red Sox JFC players having priority for spaces but players from all clubs are welcome to join depending on availability.
Following the partnership born in 2022 between Red Sox Manawatu Sports Club and Massey University Football Club and in 2023 also including as well as enhancing the senior clubs, it has allowed us to utilise the facilities at the Massey University Sport and Event Centre for those attending the academy.
We will continue to run Red Sox JFC as usual for the winter season and for most children this will be enough.
The academy is an opportunity for those players who already feel pretty serious about playing football to play with like-minded players.
We will have extra expectations on the players regarding attitude and attendance and there are additional costs involved. The experience is only for those who have a huge passion for football and a desire to improve and learn more about the game, in a more professional but still fun environment.
We are expecting demand to be high and will be offering registration to those players who took part in 2024 first. Registration for anyone who was not a 2024 participant will open on December 20th. A link to the registration form will go live via the button below on the 20th.
Please only make payment once you receive a confirmation email from Academy Director Adam Rose confirming your registration. Due to large numbers we can only accept up to a certain number in each group and some players may unfortunately miss out on a place.
We encourage any players with a great attitude, who are in love with the game and keen to improve their football skills and understanding to join.
